HOW TO JOIN

REGULAR MEMBERSHIP OVERVIEW

We are fostering a vibrant and inclusive community of passionate individuals who share a common interest in protecting the doctor/patient relationship through independent practice.

To be eligible for membership, you must meet certain qualifications. Firstly, you should reside and practice in the state of South Carolina, ensuring a close-knit community. We value individuals of good moral and professional standing, who bring integrity and dedication to their work. Additionally, you must not have faced rejection for membership in the past six months leading up to your application. 

Our membership is divided into two distinct classes: Regular Members and Affiliate Members. You can only be a member of one class at a time.

 

Members must be natural persons who are physicians duly licensed to practice medicine in  the state of South Carolina and: 

1. Have graduated from an approved School of Medicine or  School of Osteopathic Medicine;

2. Own a medical practice or work for a physician-owned medical practice; and 

3. Not be fully employed by a hospital or healthcare system, or of any medical practice partially owned by a hospital or health system.

Regular Members shall be required to pay membership dues pursuant to Section 4.4 below. As proof of licensure, Regular Members may be required by the Corporation to provide an affidavit stating that they are currently in good standing with the South Carolina Board of Medical Examiners.

REGULAR SOUTH CAROLINA PHYSICIAN MEMBERSHIP

  • Physicians must be duly licensed to practice medicine in the state of South Carolina; and
  • Own a medical practice or work for a physician-owned medical practice; and
  • Not be fully employed by a hospital or health system, or of any medical practice partially owned by a hospital or health system.

AFFILIATE MEMBERSHIP OVERVIEW

Affiliate Members, including MD’s/DO’s employed in practices/systems in which they don’t have ownership and medical students and physicians-in-training, play a vital role in our community. Although Affiliate Members do not possess voting rights, we welcome them with open arms, fostering an environment of inclusivity and collaboration. As an Affiliate South Carolina Physician or an Affiliate In-Training Physician, you will have the opportunity to engage with experienced professionals, gain valuable insights into independent/autonomous practice , and support our mission of excellence in medicine.

PHYSICIAN MEMBERSHIP

  • Affiliate Physician Members must be duly licensed to practice medicine in the state of South Carolina; but
  • Do not have voting rights.
  • May be fully employed by a hospital or health system or of a medical practice partially owned by a hospital or health system.

AFFILIATE SOUTH CAROLINA PHYSICIAN IN-TRAINING MEMBERSHIP

  • Medical students, residents, fellows in accredited training programs (with proof of enrollment) interested in independent practice or interested in becoming an independent physician; but
  • Do not have voting rights.

At IndeDocs, we believe in the power of your voice. As a Regular Member, also known as a Voting Member, you’ll have a say in shaping the future of our organization through the election and removal of directors. Your vote carries weight and directly influences our path forward.

While Voting Members’ rights are focused on director-related matters, we prioritize your input and ensure your voice is heard. You have the power to make a significant impact on our community and its initiatives.

Affiliate Members, known as Nonvoting Members, are still an essential part of our community. Although they don’t possess voting rights, we value their presence and encourage their active participation.
